Rachael and Jason’s micro wedding at Rachael’s childhood home was my first ‘covid’ wedding. It was the most beautiful welcome back to weddings. The original wedding was going to be a 150+ person wedding at Bryant Park Grill. Instead, after leaving NYC in March to live with Rachael’s family in Princeton, they decided to celebrate the wedding on their original date, in Princeton, immediate family only. Jason’s parents flew from California, rented an air b & b and quarantined for two weeks, in order to attend the ceremony. It was the first time he’d seen his parents since the winter. Multiple covid tests were taken before everyone gathered together. Lucy (my new favorite dog) greeted me the moment I walked into the backyard, Rachael’s Dad was preparing flowers for the ceremony, her Mom had pre set the dinner table for the evening, Jason’s dad was helping him with his cufflinks, and Rachael stuck her head out the second floor window to yell down and greet me. All my anxiety/nerves switched to excitement, I felt safe and welcomed in this space. After some photos at the house and around Princeton’s campus, we went to a local park for their ceremony. Their Rabbi was her dad’s college friend, who also married Rachael’s parents. The last light of late summer illuminated the ceremony. This was an exceptional day and a moment of relief and joy amidst a bleak year. I am uncertain as to what weddings will look like this year, but I’d do this day, a thousand times again. Congrats Rachael & Jason, and thank you for having me document your wedding!!
