Morgan Green // Day Jobs

Morgan Green.  Theater Director.

(tutor, babysitter, personal assistant, Columbia temp, script reader, ex-Brooklyn Academy of Music arts admin).

A bit about Dayjobs

I started this project about a year and a half ago during a retreat at a friend’s  house in Vermont.  I pursued an acting career for 6 years after college.  Whenever I told someone I was an actor, the follow up question was often, “Yeah, but what do you really do.  How do you make money?”

I hated that question because to me it implied failure.  This project is an attempt to reclaim the question, and to more honestly look at the life of an artist today in New York.  For each session I interview a person about their life.  What their day job is, highs/lows, how it’s informed their view of New York and their art, life goals etc. etc.  It’s an informal chat,  usually about 1-2 hours.  I then go home, think about what we talked about, and then pick a place to take some photos.

I like talking to people.  I like hearing stories, particularly ones about how a person completes the puzzle of being an artist living in New York.  It brings me joy.  If you’d like to have a chat/session, don’t be shy, letta me know!
