Oregon

The trip:  Crossing the country to visit Portland, Oregon and say hey to the Pacific Ocean.

The Guide:  Brighid King.  My best friend from college who has been living in Portland for the last 8 years.  We met our freshman year at Fordham at Lincoln Center.  We got along great, but the school part didn’t go so well, and we both transferred to colleges on opposite sides of the country.  We still live on different coasts, and we’re still friends.  There are some people you don’t lose touch with no matter where they live.

The spots:

Por Que No Taqueria.  Brighid is the GM of this taqueria.  If you are in Portland, eat their tacos and drink their margarita’s.  They are delicious and I am a pretty harsh taco and margarita critic (7 years of working in bars will do that to you).  Take my word,  Yelp’s, Eater’s, or Thrillist’s.

Cannon Beach.  Mikey, Sloth, Chunk, Data, Brand, Andy, Steph, Mouth.  If you don’t know what I’m taking about, just watch this movie.  One look at this place and I could not stop smiling.

Peter Iredale Shipwreck.  Lewis and Clark National Park. Sou Western–I kept thinking how much I would love to photograph a wedding at this camp. Long Beach .  Astoria-Goonie’s hometown and also seals seals seals. Powell’s.  Not photographed, but the eats of the trip: Albatross Blue Scorcher Sweedeedee Hale Pele (first flaming cocktail i’ve had) Grain and Gristle Pepe Le Moko (Oysters, cocktails, and mini hot dogs in cocktail sauce-bueno) and American Legion Post 134 (Rainier and $2 Bingo = Friday Night Party).

Conclusion: “Oregon, you beautiful wild beast”~ Brighid King.
